Vitiligo and leucoderma are commonly known as white patches. The basic reason for vitiligo could be Autoimmunity, which occurs due to bad or odd food combinations like eating milk and non-vegetarian items together and many more. Improper hygiene is the basic reason for Autoimmunity according to Ayurveda. People faced vitiligo in ages of 22 – 40 years mostly but small kids can be seen having vitiligo due to their dietary habits. High intake of junk food as main food can lead to the condition of autoimmunity, which may push them into a stage of vitiligo. Many other autoimmune disorders like diabetes, hypo or hyperthyroidism, alopecia etc. can also occur in such kids.
There is difference in Leucoderma and vitiligo. Leucoderma can occur after a cut, a burn or after allergy from some chemical while Vitiligo is self-generated. So basically Leucoderma can be said accidentally. Leucoderma cure is faster than vitiligo cure. After formation of the patch, the treatment of Leucoderma and vitiligo is same. Vitiligo & Leucoderma are termed ‘Kilas’ in Ayurveda which is also known as ‘Darun’, ‘Charun’ and ‘Switr’ as it is tridosaj. this is a skin disorder generally due to intake irregular diet combination and disturbance of tridosas namely ‘Vaat’, ‘Pitta’ and ‘Kapha’. After aggravation, it moves & affects to rakta, mans and med dhatus”.
